Murphy's is a single storey whitewashed cottage, less than a mile from the edge of the mountains and looking out across the Mournes to the sea.  Dating back to the beginning of the last century, it was comprehensively renovated in 1999.  In the front of the cottage is a large garden bounded by traditional stone walls.

This cottage is not at Hannas Close, but about 2 miles further on towards the mountains.  There is no telephone at this cottage.


ACCOMMODATION
Sleeps 4 - One double bedroom, one twin bedroom

Ground floor only: Living/dining room with original stone open fireplace.  Fully equipped kitchen.  Bathroom with over bath shower and WC.  Oilfired central heating.

FACILITIES
Linen and towels are provided. There is a fridge, washing machine, microwave, television, welcome pack, open fire, central heating, and garden furniture is supplied. A cot and barbecue are available on request.

Things to do in the Mournes area of County Down include: rambling and walking - hill, mountain, forest, coastal; cycle hire and mountain biking; rock climbing; river and sea fishing; swimming pool; fine sandy beaches, safe for bathing; sailing, scuba-diving, canoeing; pony trekking and horseback riding; birdwatching; craft shops; Irish traditional pubs and Irish music; tennis courts, bowls; cinema; ancient monuments, local history tours; seaside villages and fishing harbours; forest parks, scenic drives, local festivals, Irish market towns; Silent Valley Reservoir Centre; Nautilus Centre, Kilkeel Harbour; Golf at the nearby Mourne Park Golf Course, and Royal County Down Golf Club  (international championship links course) golf driving ranges; tennis courts, bowls, cinema. Nearby towns include: Kilkeel - one of the largest fishing fleets in Ireland; Annalong harbour - unique in having an old working cornmill and waterwheel, Newcastle - holiday resort town with restaurants, Irish pubs, nightlife, Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, Newry. The painter or photographer will know about the magnificent scenery of the Mountains of Mourne 'sweeping down to the sea'. The beautiful Silent Valley reservoir is in easy reach of the cottages, and a range of scenic drives offer spectacular views of mountains, Irish sea coast and nearby Carlingford Lough.
